Evros is the Greek name of Maritsa river. Maritsa originates in Rila Mountains, runs through the Thrace Valley – seen here in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Maritsa then runs south where it serves as a border between Turkey and Greece. Maritsa is the longest river that runs entirely on the Balkans.
Bridges over Maritsa in Plovdiv are decorated with statues.
